Article 6. Trade Names of Corporations

(Compare Articles 16 & 17 of the former Commercial Code)

1. The name of the corporation shall be its trade name.

2. The corporation must contain the lettering “gomei kaisha” (for a partnership corporation, “goshi kaisha” (for a limited partnership corporation) , kabushiki kaisha (joint stock corporation) or godo kaisha (LLC) according to the corporation’s type in the corporation’s trade name.

3. In its trade name the corporation must not use lettering causing misunderstanding that it is another type of corporation.
